DettingenConnect should be easy for everyone to use, including people with a visual impairment, with a screen reader, with a keyboard instead of a mouse or with shaky fingers. This page explains what already works, what does not yet, and how to report barriers to us.
What already works
- Large touch targets: Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels in size, on phones too.
- Text size: The app follows the text size of your device or browser; in the chat you can also set it yourself.
- Light and dark: The app follows your device's setting; under Settings you can choose light or dark permanently.
- Contrast: The administration checks the colours the operator chooses for DettingenConnect for sufficient contrast.
- Keyboard: Menus, dialogs and forms can be operated with the keyboard.
- Screen readers: Controls have labels; purely decorative images are skipped.
- Plain language: Texts and notices are short and written without jargon; the manual explains everything step by step.
- Without sound: Notices are never given by sound alone.
What does not work yet
- A full audit against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, level AA) is still pending. Until then, we do not claim that DettingenConnect meets them.
- Images uploaded by members and organisations do not yet have an image description.
- Voice messages in the chat are not yet available as text.
- The map can only be used to a limited extent with a screen reader; however, all meeting places are also available as a list.
Report a barrier
If you come across a barrier, write to us at info@buefobude.de. Tell us on which page and what did not work; we will reply and fix it as quickly as we can.
If you do not receive a satisfactory answer from a public body, you can contact the conciliation body under the disability equality legislation of your German federal state (Schlichtungsstelle nach dem Behindertengleichstellungsrecht).
